Penguin Michael Joseph (PMJ) have an exciting role available for a passionate and talented Senior Marketing Manager to maximise the sales potential of their non-fiction and cookery list.This will be a pivotal role in our Non-Fiction team, which spans across personal development, popular psychology, wellbeing, cookery, parenting, health, diet and fitness. PMJ is home to iconic authors and inspiring writers, including Jamie Oliver, Dr Julie Smith, Jeremy Clarkson, Raynor Winn, Roxie Nafousie, Nadiya Hussain, Dawn French and Gyles BrandrethThe OpportunityThis role will be responsible for planning and implementing integrated and innovative campaigns for both our frontlist and bestselling catalogue titles.You will independently and confidently create, manage and deliver creative and audience-facing marketing campaigns. The successful candidate will be a key voice in our communications team and will bring their knowledge of the marketing landscape and prior experience to produce outstanding campaigns.You will contribute to every stage of the publishing process, from acquisition to cover design, campaigns, brand strategy meetings, author events and much more. You’ll constantly work to build the Non-Fiction teams’ network of influencers, partnership contacts and brands to make our campaigns as impactful as possible.This role will primarily be working across the Non-Fiction list, but there will be opportunity to work on some Fiction projects.What you’ll bringPerhaps you’re an experienced book Marketing Manager looking for their next step, or a senior marketeer looking to work across bigger campaigns and activate brand strategy. What’s important to us is that you understand the non-fiction and cookery landscapes and campaign specialism for this part of the market.You’ll be a creative and strategic thinker who is comfortable using consumer insight and market knowledge to produce market-leading campaigns with real impact. You’ll also be an excellent communicator able to lead and collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders both internal and external.Qualities we’re looking for:Outstanding communication skills to be able to pitch ideas, report back to authors and agents and produce materials both internally and externallyDigital marketing skills, experience with interpreting data and using it to create strategic campaignsBeing able to quickly adapt, respond to trends and pivot to the newest “moment”A self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple projects all with different lead timesA confident partner for other internal teams including Editorial, Publicity and Sales to champion each bookBe commercially minded, curious and inclusive – always looking for inspiration from outsideBe a confident presenter with exceptional interpersonal and senior stakeholder management skills, as well as being able to demonstrate ingenuity and initiative,Have high commercial awareness of the market and competition,Ability to lead on sales growth strategiesImportantly, you’ll be able to show us that you’re passionate about commercial non-fiction and have an eagerness to get our books into as many readers’ hands as possible.If this sounds like your next role, please apply with your CV and cover letter by 11:59pm on Sunday 3rd November.About Penguin:We’re the UK’s largest publisher; made up of some 2,000 people and publishing over 1,500 books each year.
