This is what we live for.Fluor & Energy Materials, an Orbia business is hiring for a Mechanical HVAC Specialist III, based out of Houston, Texas, USA.Main Purpose:The development of Koura’s LFR refrigerant program requires high motived and creative individuals with mechanical system knowledge with knowledge of refrigerants and refrigerant systems (HVAC tech). Individuals need to have a background in fabricating parts and fixtures as well as being skilled in the arts welding and brazing. Good electrical skills are required for connection of compressors, fans and motors in test systems.Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineering staff in setting up and conducting experiments
  • Plumb (welding/brazing) HVAC systems, connect data acquisition systems and electrical components (motors, compressors, fans, etc)
  • Fabricate custom parts when thing don’t fit quite right (yes, this is a real thing)…
  • Maintain and Lead safe work practices as experimental activities may utilize materials with unknown safety hazards that need special consideration
  • Be engaged with local trade activities (outside of Koura) and be(become) a spokesman/woman on current trends
  • Assist sales staff with customer service requests

Education & Experience Required:

  • Trade School with local certifications in HVAC
  • Bachelor’s level – a plus, not required – Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology
  • Understanding of measurement techniques.
  • Precision mindset – must follow standards and standard laboratory work practices.
  • Must be willing to work with hazardous materials once training and skills certification are complete
  • Mechanical skills – fabrication, welding, and brazing. Electrical – connecting DAQ and electrical power equipment…
  • English is required. Multilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Job Grade III is for an experienced level ~ 15+ years work experience in the trade
