Application Support EngineerBearingPoint Ireland is recruiting an experienced Application Support Engineer to join one of our client’s Production Support team. This role involves troubleshooting application issues, providing timely resolutions, and ensuring seamless functionality of IT systems. The Application Support Engineer will collaborate closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver exceptional support services and enhance overall user experience. You should have strong communications and language skills in the English language (presenting, documenting, workshopping) and excel at building rapport with clients, other internal support teams and external service providers. You should be a responsible process-oriented person who can work on your own initiative.Your experience will include:

  • Proven experience in IT application support roles.
  • Proven customer service skills to support and assist end-users effectively.
  • Experience with incident management processes and tools.
  • Basic understanding of various software applications and their functionalities.

The following additional experience will be an advantage:

  • Knowledge in Enterprise DBMS, such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) and their interaction with applications.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools e.g. Nagios, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerBI, etc.
  • An understanding of basic data security principles to ensure applications are used securely and sensitive information is protected.

You will:

  • Have a good verbal communication and provide feedback and support customers in a prompt, professional manner.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve/assign issues/tickets raised by end-users and internally in line with Service Level Agreements
  • Have responsibility for daily administration of the ticketing system encompassing Incident, Service Requests and Change management.
  • Have a good technical understanding and willingness to apply knowledge to process enhancements and problem resolution.
  • Log, prioritise and monitor helpdesk issues through to resolution.
  • Optimise issue resolution by following production support procedures – effective, efficient, documented issue resolution.
  • Work closely within the support team and liaise with other level 2 and 3 team members and/or managers to maintain and apply common processes.
  • Be confident and capable of following up with colleagues/clients/third parties at different levels.
  • Produce periodic reports – daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly required by the client and extract data and analyse where necessary.
  • Perform trend analysis of issues and escalate/present findings and recommendations to management.
  • Be a good team player and willing to share information with other service-desk team-members readily.
  • Be committed to exceeding client expectations and meeting SLA’s.
  • Create and update procedural documentation in support of the helpdesk and its clients.
  • Take ownership of non-standard helpdesk tasks and follow them through to completion.
  • Have a basic understanding of ITIL and ITSM.
