We look forward to receiving your application!Work assignmentsThe position is linked to the Department of Culture and Society (IKOS) and the research environment Historical Studies. The research carried out in the environment is diverse, and includes, in addition to art history and visual communication, also research in history and religious studies. Furthermore, there is close collaboration with other research environments focusing on sustainability, cultural heritage, visual culture and design, as well as networks such as Forum for form, aesthetics and design.The duties of this position primarily involve research leadership and research supervision in art history with a focus on modern and contemporary art. The position also includes some teaching including supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The distribution of tasks may vary depending on research projects and teaching needs. The division offers courses up to Master’s level dealing with art history from antiquity to the present day as well as several more thematic courses.A central task within the framework of the position is to develop and establish externally funded research and contribute to the development of a well-functioning and strong research environment in Historical Studies and related subject areas. An important task is also to cooperate with internal and external stakeholders and to develop national and international research collaborations.You are active in the research community, participate in the division’s activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications and help attract external research funding.You contribute actively to the university’s development work. If necessary, you should be able to take on assignments such as director of studies, research leader or leader of a research seminar.The person obtaining the position must have a high physical presence in the environment, take responsibility for the development of the subject area and participate in and contribute to the strategic work of the division and the department.Collaboration is an integral part of the university’s research and education mission. Collaboration in research takes the form of disseminating, making available and utilising research. Collaboration in education takes the form of planning, organising and implementing good cooperation in educational contexts. Overall, collaboration is to strengthen the quality and relevance of education and research.The position includes the following tasks and responsibilities: conducting research in art history with a focus on modern and contemporary art; preparing and developing research projects within the framework of the employment; participation in and development of local, regional, national, Nordic and/or international research networks; participation in teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels; supporting collaboration with actors in the surrounding society who are involved in modern and contemporary art history and promoting a broad societal interest in this.Your work includes monitoring developments nationally and internationally within your field of study and other societal developments that are important to your work.We expect you to be flexible and have the ability to move between different types of pedagogical and academic contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the working group’s professional development, collegial ways of working and social community. The fact that you are present and active is something we see as self-evident in order to ensure that you are able to perform your duties in an optimum way and enjoy your working relationships.QualificationsWe are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated both academic and pedagogical proficiency.For this position, particular and equal emphasis will be placed on academic and pedagogical expertise, second on other proficiencies.In terms of academic expertise, the following will be assessed:
- A requirement for the position is a documented high level of academic expertise in art history.
- A requirement for the position is also a doctoral degree.
- Of particular merit is academic expertise in modern and contemporary art history.
- A requirement for the position is relevant peer-reviewed publications in both national and international publication channels.
- Of merit is proficiency in obtaining external research grants.
- Of merit is also expertise in initiating and managing major research projects and research environments/networks.
In terms of pedagogical expertise, the following will be assessed:
- A requirement for the position is documented pedagogical expertise in the subject area of art history at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels.
- A requirement for the position is the ability to teach in Swedish and English.
- Of particular merit is documented pedagogical expertise at doctoral level regarding teaching, supervision, planning and leadership.
- Of merit is documented expertise in the supervision of doctoral students, from admission to graduation.
- Of merit is expertise in teaching modern and contemporary art history.
- Of merit is pedagogical development work in art history and visual culture.
In terms of other proficiencies, the following will be assessed:
- A requirement for the position is documented good collaborative skills.
- Of particular merit is documented administrative proficiency, demonstrated by the ability to plan, organise and develop operations.
- Of particular merit is documented proficiency regarding collaboration with the surrounding society.
