We are looking for a dynamic Chief Data Officer to lead and scale relevant data initiatives across the organization in line with our strategic priorities.Job OverviewThe collection and need for data continue to grow exponentially in organisations. Increasingly, data in itself – outside of applications – has value supporting the organisation’s mission and activities. Data has even more value if it is readily available, easily found, and easily re-usable for both existing and new services and activities or applications.The Chief Data Officer (CDO) is the senior director who bears responsibility on behalf of the enterprise to define the organization’s data strategy and execute the 3-5 year data maturity ambition. As such focus is set on fostering data quality; sound data management – aligning data policy and administration with relevant regulatory, legal and compliance mandates, supporting value creation through data exploitation – supporting data-enabled strategies as well business outcomes through analytics and promoting and driving a data culture – embedding a true data mindset, throughout the organisation.The Chief data officer will work closely with other executives, across Euroclear Group, to define and drive execution of the data strategy, align data initiatives with the company’s overall goals and ensures execution and benefit management.The role will require strong collaboration and stakeholder management across the organisation at the same time advising and challenging them on the quality and maturity of data and data-enabled solutions, defining and steering priority and investment decisions.Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy Development: Define and drive implementation of a comprehensive data strategy that supports the Groups’ strategic objectives.
  • Data Governance: Establish data governance policies, standards, and practices to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulations (e.g., GDPR, BCBS,…) and ensure embedding throughout the company. Be the ambassador of the importance of high-quality data and information management to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Data Analytics and BI: Identify and support development of data-driven solutions to optimize processes and address inefficiencies, foster synergies and set direction regarding data usage in analytics and business intelligence throughout the organisation.
  • Data Architecture/infrastructure: Set the Business direction that will shape the design and implementation of scalable data architectures, ensuring integration with enterprise systems, in line with the data strategy and data maturity roadmap and in very close collaboration with relevant IT teams.
  • KPIs and Reporting: Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of data initiatives in delivering the data strategy and related benefits, regularly reporting progress to the C-suite and board of directors.
  • Innovation and business development: Identify emerging trends in data technology and support the definition and implementation of innovative solutions in strong collaboration with business and IT. Provide advice to business and technology for data-dependent initiatives.

Qualifications and competencies

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or a related field. MBA or PhD preferred.
  • Experience
  • Minimum of [10+] years of experience in data management, analytics, or a related role. Broad business experience in the Financial Services industry is desired.
  • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Certifications in data-related fields are a plus (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), AWS Certified Big Data)
  • Expertise
  • Proven data literacy – the ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options. The ability to translate among the languages used by executive, business, IT and quant stakeholders.
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience with data platforms (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, AWS, Azure), analytics tools (e.g. Power BI), and machine learning frameworks.
  • Leadership
  • You will lead and manage multicultural teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment
  • Critical mindset and strong ability to challenge and influence senior and middle management and IT experts. Excellent communication and strong facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Problem solving: Recommends solutions relevant to the complexity, scope, risk and magnitude of the problem. Analytical and result oriented, you show strong business acumen and client-focus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders.
