Assets and Property Services at Guildford Borough Council are responsible for ensuring the Council delivers on its corporate asset strategy by having the right assets to meet strategic and commercial outcomes and ensuring they are maintained to the right standard to meet those needs.We are recruiting a Technical Services Manager with specialist property expertise to lead the team responsible for the maintenance and repair of our corporate non-housing assets.The role would ideally suit an experienced RICS surveyor looking for a new opportunity that goes wider than just surveying to include civil engineering and facilities compliance maintenance. The team completes around £2m maintenance and capital works annually and employs 8 members of staff.Buildings include a head office, waste depot, industrial premises, sports pavilions, multi-storey car parks and a crematorium as well as miscellaneous properties such as tunnels, closed burial grounds and several heritage sites. Infrastructure assets include bridges, surface car parks, roads, and footways.We assist a variety of customers including Council service teams, commercial tenants and external stakeholders. You will work with Council officers, senior management, councillors, tenants, and stakeholder representatives, providing technical guidance and delivering our annual asset maintenance programme on time and to budget.Excellent communication skills are required to represent the service at board and committee level and demonstrable team leadership experience is essential. Numerical skills are essential to prepare and monitor budgets accurately.We guarantee no two days are the same.
