The PELAB (Programming Environment Laboratory) research group focuses on tools and methods for the development and quality assurance of software-intensive systems. As an assistant professor in software engineering with specialization in machine learning, your primary duty will be to conduct cutting-edge research to develop advanced machine learning techniques used for model-driven engineering (MDE). Machine learning, and in particular, large language models are rapidly transforming various areas of our daily life including software-intensive systems. This position focuses on the integration and application of large language models (LLMs) to advance model-driven engineering (MDE). In MDE, models are central to software development, serving as high-level abstractions to automate code generation, system analysis, and transformation processes. LLMs hold significant potential to enhance these tasks, enabling natural language processing capabilities that can interpret, generate, and refine engineering models based on human language inputs. Research in this area explores the use of LLMs to automate aspects of MDE, such as requirements extraction, model synthesis, and automated code generation, creating smarter tools that respond to complex engineering workflows used for critical cyber-physical systems. The field leverages machine learning to bring greater automation, efficiency, and accuracy to MDE processes, bridging gaps between high-level design and executable software systems. The research language is expected to be English. As an assistant professor in software engineering with specialization in machine learning, you will teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level dominantly in English as well as supervise students in the faculty’s different educational programmes.
