Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Construction Logistics Manager to lead all logistics activities on a hyperscale data centre construction project in Hamina, Finland. This role involves full ownership of the logistics strategy, team leadership, and daily coordination of site logistics operationsincluding deliveries, access control, waste management, traffic flow, and welfare support. You will manage a team of logistics personnel and subcontractors, ensuring safe and efficient operations across a busy, fast-paced site.Key Responsibilities:
Site Logistics Planning & Delivery:
Develop, implement, and manage the overall site logistics strategy for the construction phase.
Oversee site layout planning, including laydown areas, traffic routes, welfare zones, storage areas, and movement strategies.
Ensure logistics operations align with the master construction schedule and key milestone dates.
Logistics Team Management & Coordination:
Lead, coordinate, and supervise the on-site logistics team, including:
Logistics supervisors/coordinators
Delivery gate operatives
Traffic marshals and security teams
Waste and site cleaning operatives
Manage and coordinate subcontracted logistics providers (e.g., material handling, lifting services, cleaning etc).
Assign daily tasks, monitor team performance, and ensure resources are deployed effectively across the site.
Conduct daily team briefings, toolbox talks, and coordination meetings.
Material Movement & Delivery Management:
Implement and manage a delivery management system (DMS) to control and schedule deliveries.
Coordinate just-in-time (JIT) deliveries to ensure materials are available at point-of-use while minimising congestion.
Work with freight forwarders, customs agents, and suppliers on inbound logistics of prefabricated or long-lead materials.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with Finnish safety regulations (Occupational Safety and Health Act 738/2002).
Implement site traffic management plans, pedestrian segregation, and vehicle control measures.
Ensure team members hold necessary safety certifications (Työturvallisuuskortti, Tulityökortti, etc.).
Participate in safety audits and collaborate closely with the HSE team.
Stakeholder Interface & Communication:
Serve as the key point of contact for logistics with the main contractor, client, subcontractors, and suppliers
Attend daily coordination meetings to align logistics with construction progress and upcoming activities.
Provide regular updates to site leadership on logistics issues, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.Reporting & Administration:
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, waste movements, manpower, and equipment.
Prepare and issue daily and weekly logistics reports.
Maintain and update the logistics plan and site layout drawings in coordination with planners.Qualifications & Experience:
Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Logistics, Engineering, or equivalent.
5 years experience in construction logistics on large-scale projects, ideally data centres, industrial, or high-tech.
Proven ability to manage and motivate a multidisciplinary site logistics team.
Solid knowledge of Finnish construction regulations and working culture.
Experience using logistics software tools and tools for drawing logistics plans (I.e, Datascope, Bluebeam, Autocad or proprietary DMS or other logistics/layout platforms).Desirable:
Experience on mission-critical or hyperscale data centre projects.
Familiarity with Finnish environmental and waste regulations.
Fluency in English is essential; Finnish is a strong advantage.
Possession of Työturvallisuuskortti (Occupational Safety Card) and Tulityökortti (Hot Work Permit), or willingness to obtain.Key Attributes:
