Join us in turning data into real value and building our next-gen data platform!The Job | Software EngineerTryg has a long tradition of working with data to understand risks. We are now taking this experience to the next level and expanding our activities to many different customer-centric initiatives. As data from the customer touchpoints is scattered in a series of different systems, we are building a data platform to obtain easy, purpose-driven, and compliant access to data.In your role as a Software Engineer, you will focus on developing components that support the Data Engineers in their work or provide new features. The development will be a combination of working on internal tools and contributing to open source when possible. Our data platform is based on Kafka, and most development will be streaming-related.As a Software Engineer, you will be exposed to many different small projects – some include improving and adding features to existing software, while others require you to build something ground up together with team members. As an expert in the team, you are expected to nurture less experienced colleagues by reviewing design, assigning tasks, and so on. You will work closely with management to prioritize the backlog.Our tech stack is always growing, as the platform expands, but currently the most important ones are:
- Languages: Java, Python, Golang, Rust
- Technologies: Kubernetes Operators, Kafka, Iceberg, Trino, RisingWave, SQLMesh, LLM, and much more
Other nice things: (Real) agile development, large ownership, large amounts of data, extremely talented team members, average quality coffeeAbout you | Curious about learning new technologiesYou most likely have a background in Computer Science and have experience developing software that is used by other developers. The code you write is clean and well-designed. Experience in the languages and technologies mentioned earlier is good, but not required. However, we expect you to be curious about learning new technologies and propose improvements to our current stack where you see fit.As a developer, you are very comfortable being handed a problem and deciding whether to delegate to team members or solve it yourself. You value the opinions of your colleagues and users. The compromise between shipping products and making the code documented and maintainable is something you understand how to balance.The teams you will be working with as a Software Engineer are scattered across many countries, so communicating online in English, both verbally and in writing, is not an issue for you.
