Are you an experienced CNC Lathe Operator ready to take on challenging, high-precision work in a modern engineering environment? We’re looking for a highly capable machinist to join a respected team in Sheffield, working on large-scale, complex components across a range of demanding materials.This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in precision machining and takes pride in producing quality work to the highest standards.To be considered for the role, you’ll require the following essentials:
- Proven experience in Fanuc-controlled CNC lathe operation
- Background in machining both small and large complex parts
- Ability to work to extremely tight tolerances and finish quality
- Programming experience on Fanuc (desirable but not essential)
- Confidence working from technical drawings with minimal supervision
- Strong understanding of safety, accuracy, and efficiency in a fast-paced machining environment
- A proactive, solution-focused mindset with a passion for engineering excellence
Within this position, you’ll also be:
- Set and operate CNC lathes using Fanuc controls to produce high-spec components
- Work to tight tolerances of ±0.5mm on parts ranging from short production runs to longer, complex projects
- Machine large components up to 1,200mm diameter and 6m in length
- Read and interpret complex technical and engineering drawings
- Use micrometres, verniers, and other precision measuring tools to inspect and verify work
- Maintain workshop standards and ensure adherence to quality, safety, and engineering processes
- Collaborate with engineering and inspection teams to troubleshoot and optimise machining processes
