SSE, a CWS Group company, is an award-winning leader with over 20 years of experience in Cleanroom Services, Contract Cleaning, and Facilities Audits.We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Officer to join our growing team at our Galway head office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and driven professional to develop their career within a highly regulated and rewarding environment.Key Responsibilities
- Ensure company-wide compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments (chemical risk experience is a plus).
- Lead investigations into accidents and incidents; implement corrective actions.
- Deliver safety training programs, including manual handling.
- Maintain detailed H&S training records, including toolbox talks and chemical awareness.
- Ensure PPE protocols are followed and safety records are up to date.
- Liaise with insurers, external consultants, and other key stakeholders.
- Regularly review and update SSE’s Safety Statement and provide ongoing staff training.
- Report safety performance and issues to senior leadership.
- Track corrective actions to ensure they are resolved by the assigned closure dates.
- Review subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Follow up on health and safety issues, ensuring timely and effective close-out in line with agreed task dates.
- Deliver health and safety inductions for new personnel at Head Office
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Health and Safety or related field
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar H&S role
- Certified Manual Handling Instructor
- Strong experience in risk assessments and incident investigations
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities.
- Strong computer literacy – word, excel, PowerPoint etc and preferable experience in working with online management systems is preferred
Advantages:

- A valid driver’s license
