Are you ready to help shape the future of wind energy?About the positionAt Polytech, we design and build advanced solutions for wind turbine blades. We’re now looking for a motivated LPS Design Engineer to join our team and help develop the next generation of Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) for future wind turbines.In this role, you’ll use your technical knowledge and understanding of lightning physics to create innovative and reliable LPS solutions. You’ll work on exciting customer projects – designing systems for complex wind turbine blades and nacelle structures. You’ll also take part in internal R&D assignments where innovation of ideas at low TRL levels are pursued and pushed towards industrialization.This position offers a great opportunity for newly graduated engineers to begin their careers in a dynamic, high-tech environment. Candidates with experience in the wind industry are also encouraged to apply and can contribute valuable expertise from the outset.Key responsibilities and tasks:As our new LPS Design Engineer, you will:
- Model lightning risk exposure for wind turbines and farms using advanced numerical tools
- Analyze current and voltage behavior in complex wind blades during lightning strikes
- Explore the use of CFRP and other conductive materials in blade design
- Apply your understanding of lightning physics to solve real-world customer challenges
- Use Python to work with lightning data and support the development of tools
- Design, test, and implement LPS kits together with our customers and in-house experts
- Work closely with our skilled prototyping and manufacturing teams
- Participate in customer and sales meetings to support ongoing projects
Your BackgroundWe’re looking for someone who:
- Holds a BSc or higher in Electrical Engineering or a similar field
- Is skilled in numerical tools such as MATLAB, COMSOL Multiphysics, CST, or similar
- Has good knowledge of Python for data analysis and tool development
- Learns quickly and enjoys tackling new technical challenges
- Thrives in an international, English-speaking environment
- Communicates clearly and works well in cross-functional teams
