Contribute to groundbreaking research on collective effects during ionisation cooling-a crucial step in delivering high-brightness muon beams.As an Applied Physicist in this exciting field, you will:

• Investigate collective effects that may impact ionisation cooling and the generation of high-brightness muon beams.
• Study beam interactions with electromagnetic wake fields in absorbers, gas-filled RF cavities, and other materials.
• Analyze the effects of ionisation-induced charge pairs and their impact on beam stability.
• Develop theoretical models and simulations to explore instabilities in the cooling process.
• Collaborate with leading experts in the IMCC, contributing to the future of muon collider technology.

Your profileSkills

• Knowledge of Beam dynamics.
• Knowledge of collective effects.
• Knowledge of particle-matter interaction.
• Knowledge of electromagnetic fields.
• Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

• You are a national of a

. * You have a professional background in Accelerator physics, muon colliders (or a related field) and have either:

• a Master’s degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
• or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
