Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Technical Buyer to join our procurement team. The Technical Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing technical products, materials, and services in support of production, engineering, and R&D teams. This role requires a strong understanding of technical specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards to ensure accurate and timely procurement. Key Responsibilities:Source and procure materials, components, and equipment based on engineering and production requirementsInterpret technical specifications and engineering drawings to accurately identify procurement needsEvaluate and select suppliers based on technical capability, cost, quality, and delivery performanceEnsure sustainability is an integrated part of the procurement process, including assessment of environmental impact, ethical guidelines, and supplier social responsibilityDevelop and maintain strong supplier relationships; negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedulesCollaborate closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure materials meet project and quality standardsMonitor market trends, supplier performance, and material availability to minimize supply chain riskPrepare and issue purchase orders (POs); track and expedite orders as needed to meet deadlinesResolve discrepancies between purchase orders and supplier invoices, deliveries, or product qualityMaintain accurate procurement records and documentation in ERP systemsContribute to cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement of the procurement process Desired qualifications:Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent. Formal education can be replaced by long term work experience3+ years of experience in a technical procurement or purchasing role, preferably from a production environment and with a solid understanding of the full value chainStrong understanding of technical products, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processesExperience in identifying and qualifying new suppliersFamiliarity with sustainable procurement and supplier follow-up is an advantage — especially with regard to environmental, ethical, and social responsibility.Experience with ERP systemsStrong communication and negotiation skills, with an analytical and solution-oriented mindsetStrong organizational and time management abilitiesExcellent problem-solving skillsCan manage multiple, sometimes conflicting prioritiesGood knowledge of Norwegian and English, both written and spokenThe position is office-based in Holmestrand, with occasional visits to suppliers or manufacturing sites.
