The Department of Marketing at Hanken School of Economics invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Marketing.The position is in Helsinki, starting August 1, 2025, or as agreed.The Marketing subjects research team( ) on service and sustainable innovation for well-being and performance, with cross-cutting topics in service systems, artificial intelligence, and sustainability. Our four main focus areas are:– B2B Marketing & Sales,

– Customer-Centricity & Market InsightsWe have a strong research climate, reflected in the volume and diversity of research activities, including externally funded projects, publications in highly ranked academic journals, an active community of PhD researchers and Professors of Practice, and a wide range of societal impact activities. Our goal is to conduct high-quality academic research with corporate and societal relevance.The faculty has published in leading journals, such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Service Research, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research, and Journal of Service Management. For 30 years, the subject has hosted the CERS-Centre for Relationship Marketing and Service Management, dedicated to creating cutting-edge academic knowledge and extensively collaborating with the international academic network and business community. In 2010, CERS inaugurated the Grönroos Service Research Award to annually acknowledge service marketing researchers that challenge and expand the service research discipline.Our teaching, in addition to typical marketing topics such as branding, marketing communication, and consumer behaviour, focuses on the four core areas mentioned above. We embrace Nordic values in teaching and learning, such as openness, equality, and integrity, and promote a diverse and innovative learning community that answers to the challenges of the global world, and that efficiently integrates students, faculty, staff, the corporate world, as well as partner organizations and universities.RequirementsApplicants must have a doctoral degree (or be near completion of the doctorate) in marketing or a related field. Candidates will be reviewed based on their research, teaching, institutional service, and societal impact. The main focus will be on the potential to conduct high-quality scientific research in marketing, particularly in the subjects main focus areas, and the potential to provide high-quality teaching in these core areas. Research is the most important of the qualification areas followed by teaching, and then, service and societal impact.Applicants are required to have a fluent command of English. Swedish language skills are considered a merit. Hanken supports international faculty in learning the Swedish language, which serves as the administrative language of the business school.Academic staff at Hanken are expected to carry out and supervise scientific research, obtain external funding, provide high-quality academic teaching, closely follow the advances of their field, and participate in service to Hanken, the academic community, and society.The full-time position has an annual working time of 1612 hours. During the academic year, it is expected that a minimum average of three days per week is spent at the office in Helsinki to actively contribute to the research and teaching environment. Hanken offers relocation support for tenure track professors coming outside Finland and expects full-time academic employees to reside and work in Finland. Teaching tasks are allocated based on the curriculum needs of the subject and by considering relevant expertise. Hanken offers multiple pedagogical training opportunities.Salary and other benefitsThe salary is based on the university salary system in Finland. The exact salary level depends on qualifications and performance. At the assistant professor level, the annual salary range starts from around 60.000 euros (including a holiday bonus). Depending on the candidates qualifications (research, teaching, societal impact, and/or activity in the scientific community), the salary level can be higher. In addition, the employment includes occupational healthcare as well as pension contributions. Hanken will support the Assistant Professor with a start-up research budget. Additional research, travel, and teaching development grants can be applied for.
