NHH is located in the city of Bergen and has around 3,750 students and 455 employees.About the positionNHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applications for a position as Associate Professor in Business Economics at the Department of Business and Management Science.The Department of Business and Management Science has high ambitions in terms of research and offers a stimulating work environment. The department delivers teaching and supervision in NHH’s programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and PhD levels, as well as executive programs. The main activities are organised in five broad research areas: i) Managerial Economics and Business Strategy ii) Business Taxation iii) Asset Management and Risk Analysis iv) Energy Markets, Resource Management and Sustainability v) Shipping, Logistics and Operations Management. The department is multi-disciplinary, and the research covers both empirical and theoretical inquiries. For more information, .The department is seeking ambitious candidates early in their careers who can document relevant research and teaching capabilities. The department aims to strengthen the research area Asset Management and Risk Analysis. We are especially searching for empirical candidates with a documented interest in research on Norwegian capital markets and institutions. The announced position is part of a joint initiative between NHH and Argentum to build knowledge about the Norwegian fund management industry and the private equity sector.The candidate appointed to the position must be able to teach the courses BUS 422N Capital Budgeting, BED3 Capital Budgeting and Finance and FOR 21 Corporate Governance and Private Equity. The Department also needs to strengthen its teaching capacity within household finance, asset management, insurance and pensions, sustainable investments, valuation, econometrics and business analytics.The courses BUS 422N, BED3 and FOR 21 are all taught in Norwegian. Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language at a minimum of the B2 level (The Common European Framework) is therefore required.Teaching quality and the ability to engage large classes is an important criterion. This will be evaluated through documented evidence of previous teaching experience in a recognised academic program, interaction with students, and student evaluations. The position involves teaching on average two courses per year as well as some graduate supervision. Candidates who cannot document at least 200 hours of pedagogical coursework when hired, must complete the NHH program on basic pedagogical competence within two years.Applicants must have a PhD degree from a recognised business school or university and must demonstrate high quality in research. International experience will be weighted positively. Research quality will be evaluated based on publications in well-recognised international journals, as well as research potential demonstrated through a pipeline of working papers.For permanent employment at NHH, candidates are normally required to have published at least two scientific articles in the last five years, with at least one appearing in a journal ranked at Level 3 or higher in the Academic Journal Guide (AJG), or at Level 2 in the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals. For candidates who are near the margin of the minimum criteria, an active research program with clear potential for future publications in top academic journals is expected.NHH is a one campus business school, and the place of work is Bergen. The candidate appointed to the position is expected to interact and cooperate on research with colleagues, attend faculty seminars, take part in recruitment processes, and other activities that aim to strengthen the research and social environment at NHH and the department.NHH needs to improve its gender balance.
