We look forward to receiving your application!Work assignmentsThe position is located at the Department for Language, Culture and Interaction, Department of Culture and Society. The department also includes the interdisciplinary research environment Language and Culture. The employment mainly involves teaching the subject of English.
Within the subject of English, teaching is conducted in the form of independent courses in linguistics, language proficiency and literary studies, a number of teacher programs (from preschool to high school), and the bachelor’s program in Language, Literature and Media (SLM). In addition, the subject of English is responsible for the university’s Academic English Support/English language workshops.The position includes teaching including supervision of students’ independent work within independent courses as well as educational programs both within English language literature and language skills as well as within Academic English Support and professional language courses within English. The work includes course design and course responsibility.Within the research environment Language and Culture there is a research school. As such, the employment may involve participating in research training including supervision of doctoral students.You are active in the research community, participate in the division’s activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results through academic publications and help attract external research funding.You contribute actively to the university’s development work. We are looking for someone who actively wants to contribute to the university’s development work. The employment may also involve having administrative assignments, such as, for example, director of studies or the like. We would also like to see you participate in and show interest in management assignments.Your work includes monitoring developments nationally and internationally within your field of study and other societal developments that are important to your work.You are flexible and have the ability to move between different types of pedagogical and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the working group’s professional development, collegial ways of working and social community. The fact that you are present and active is something we see as self-evident in order to ensure that you are able to perform your duties in an optimum way and enjoy your working community.QualificationsWe are looking for a candidate who has received a doctoral degree or has equivalent academic expertise, and has demonstrated pedagogical expertise or other professional skills that are of significance with consideration for the subject and duties relevant to the appointment and duties.For this employment equal importance will be given to academic and pedagogical expertise.In terms of pedagogical expertise, the following will be assessed:

  • Documented teaching skills from teaching English at university level is a requirement for employment.
  • Documented pedagogical skills regarding teaching in literary studies is particularly meritorious.
  • Documented pedagogical skills in literature didactics are meritorious for the employment.
  • Documented supervision and examination of independent work is meritorious for employment.
  • Documented pedagogical skills in terms of course responsibility and course development are meritorious for the employment

In terms of academic expertise, the following will be assessed:

  • Documented scientific skill in English literary studies is a requirement for employment.
