Think of the asphalt on the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit, the Paris Metro Rail project, but also the Louis Vuitton Museum in Paris, parts of the Burj Khalifa, and the Kennedy Space Centre.Learn more about us through the following .Position OverviewReporting to the Senior Manager Biodiversity and Natural Resources, the Biodiversity and Sustainability Specialist will be responsible for supporting the implementation of CRH’s group wide strategic approach to biodiversity and operational water, utilising external tools to analyse CRH’s nature risks and opportunities, and undertaking biodiversity net impact assessments using available external tools.The team plays a central role in supporting senior management, group functions and operating companies and works alongside and supports other sustainability related group functions of ESG & Capital Markets and the Corporate Sustainability Financial Reporting function.Other key objectives include guiding operating companies in the development and implementation of biodiversity management plans and water stewardship plans, net impact assessments and supporting the implementation of actions related to emerging nature topics.This role will be based in Ireland or the United Kingdom.Key Tasks and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:Support the development and rollout of CRH’s strategic approaches, ambitions, key principles and metrics on nature-related topicsRegularly analyse CRH’s footprint using the outputs of various risk assessment tools e.g IBAT, WRI Aqueduct, WWF risk filtersProvide support and guidance to operating companies on the development and implementation of biodiversity and water management plansUndertake nature related net impact assessmentsContribute to the Sustainable Business team in areas including the development of content for sustainability reporting and internal/external communicationsBuild strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholdersPrepare presentations and communication materials for internal and external stakeholdersKey Skills and Experience2/3 years’ working experience in a commercial or corporate, delivery-focused roleStrong academic credentials in ecology, or sustainability/environmental management with a focus on biodiversity and or waterHigh proficiency in Office365 with extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and WordStrong knowledge of ecology and/or water management, nature policies and regulationsExcellent research and analytical skills with the ability to gather and filter large amounts of information and data, and present findings concisely to a range of stakeholdersStrong writing, design and communications skills, with the ability to explain complex issues simplyEnergetic and driven, but capable of fitting into a team environment; team player with first-rate inter-personal and communication skills and capabilities; ability to make both oral and written presentations to a variety of audiencesSelf-motivated with a high degree of initiative and be comfortable working in a challenging, fast-paced but rewarding environmentKeen interest in current and future business trends in sustainability is advantageousAbility to multi-task and deliver within tight deadlinesWhat CRH Offers YouA culture that values opportunity for growth, development, and internal promotionHighly competitive salary packageComprehensive secondary benefitsSignificant contribution to your pension planHealth and wellness programs, including an on-site gym and fitness classesExcellent opportunities to develop and progress with a global organizationConnect your future to CRHWe are curious to learn more about you.
