Are you excited about creating an international business from research in the field of hydrogen compressing?Aalto University is now looking for aBUSINESS DEVELOPER FOR FUTURE DEEP-TECH STARTUPto join a team of research experts of the Research to Business case in the field of gas compressing from the School of Engineering. AC Comp compressor offers a new way to tackle the inefficiency of traditional gas compressors by using waste heat instead of electricity. The solution’s ability to drastically reduce energy consumption, reliance on external power, lower operational costs, and support sustainability initiatives creates a significant competitive advantage. This makes it an attractive option for industries looking to transform their waste to value, decrease electricity costs and comply with energy saving regulations. AC Comp can generate as high as 100 bar pressurized gas which provides an attractive option in hydrogen compression as well in hydrogen batteries, for example.What you’ll doYou will implement the commercialization plan that includes market analysis, customer profiling, gap and risk analysis, the identification of business models, identifying the go-to-market strategy, and the future funding models. The commercialization preparation tasks include a technoeconomic study to determine levelized cost of compressed air and comparison this with industry standards as well as determination of sizing of system to be competitive with industrial scale compressors and payback period of investing in this system. You also identify local manufacturing and industrial plants in Finland that have adequate waste heat streams, heat sinks and demand for compressed gas. Based on those you determine customer value and conduct market surveys and make potential customer studies.What we offerWe offer a meaningful job where you can create a business from research in an international environment. You’ll get the support of the research team, mentors, Aalto Innovation Services, Aalto Startup Center and the active Aalto community. After the project, there is a possibility that you could become co-founder of the new deep tech startup as a CEO or Business Director.You will be employed by Aalto University for the duration of the project. This project is intended to last 18 months starting in July 2025. The position will be located at the Aalto University Campus in Otaniemi, Espoo, and cannot be done from abroad.Who are we looking for?We are looking for a business minded person with entrepreneurial mindset. You don’t need to be an expert of compressor technology or hydrogen ecosystem but share the genuine interest to build a commercial business of a superb deep tech research.
