Johnson and Johnson is currently seeking a Clinical Research Equity, Director located in Beerse, Belgium or Allschwil, Switzerland.The Clinical Research Equity (CRE), Director is responsible for co-defining and working with Delivery Unit Patient and Site Engagement leads on setting the overall DEI strategy and goals for J&J Drug development, to ensure diverse patient representation across global clinical trials. This role will collaborate closely with other team members across Global Development and the enterprise to communicate a coherent, aligned strategy across all levels of the organization. They will focus on equipping employees within Global Development with clear strategies and develop new tactics to reach diverse populations as an integral member of the central CRE strategy team. This role requires a strategic approach, effective stakeholder management, and be capable of managing multiple ongoing initiatives simultaneously.Primary responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing strategy for embedding CRE tactics in specific therapeutic areas (Immunology, Oncology, Cross-TA or Medical Affairs) across the J&J enterprise with multiple collaborators. Working in close collaboration with central colleagues to develop innovative approaches.
- Lead all aspects of the development of innovative, cohesive strategy that embeds one of these areas:
- Driving inclusion strategies for Indigenous populations, LGBTQI, disabled, or populations in rural communities or those who are from lower socio-economic circumstances.
- Expanding inclusion strategy in geographies beyond US (in markets across Europe, Asia, North & South America, and Africa), including leading external partnerships.
- Leadership accountabilities, including leading and developing talent across the organisation, without direct authority.
- Develop, track and report on key performance indicators and metrics to support the continuous improvement and effectiveness of DEICT efforts
- Develop, implement and ensure key ‘Diversity in clinical trials’ standards, processes and templates to ensure consistent messaging across the organization. Involved in representing DEICT in internal and external meetings as needed.
QualificationsQualifications:Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in scientific or healthcare area or relevant field required
- PhD or equivalent preferred
Required:
- 10 years of demonstrated ability with a minimum of 6-10 years clinical trial expertise
- Has led clinical trial diversity related strategy development, and deployment across R&D and has a strong understanding of evolving D&I landscape.
- Has experience leading on ex-US/global strategy for Diversity in clinical trials, LGBTQI/disability inclusion strategy, or innovation in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion space.
- Experience in successfully leading teams in global organizations and a capability to work across functional and geographic boundaries and influence without authority.
- Teammate with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and ability to build a well-developed network among opinion leaders, community partners, patient networks and other collaborators
- A demonstrated ability to prioritise, problem-solve and work independently will be needed. Demonstrated ability to develop deep insights, uncover unmet needs, drive innovation, encourage, develop, collaborate and lead within a global team is required.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, experienced in communications with scientific audiences.
- Up to 20% travel – Domestic & International
Preferred:
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in Clinical development, clinical operations, regulatory affairs, or patient advocacy in large sophisticated organizations
- Proven people management and leadership skills, preferably balanced between on- and off-shore teams.
- Validated capability to lead on external partnerships with other Pharma companies, e.g. TransCelerate, IHI/IMI, PhRMA, etc.
