Consultant general anaesthetistBusy DGH environment with responsibility to the Emergency Service on callSupported by 19 Consultants, 3 Middle Grades and 3 Anaesthetic Associates (2 more in training)Supported by currently 41 Trainees1 in 16 on call rota.Responsibility to Maternity Services whilst on callOperating lists in ENT, Major Head and Neck Cancer, Dental surgery, Ophthalmology, Trauma, Orthopaedics, General surgery, Breast Surgery, Urological Surgery Including Nephrectomy, Maternity, Gynaecology, Colorectal Surgery, Benign upper GI surgeryPaediatric surgery held weekly on ThursdaysPreoperative assessment, Cardiopulmonary exercise testingAcute and Chronic pain.Implantable Continuous Venous Access devicesMain duties of the jobClinical10 PA contract1.7 PA for on call1.5 Core SPA6.8 Clinical PAs to include 0.5 PA for admin, pre and post op visiting2.5 clinical days per week 8am to 6PMIndicative Job PlanTo be discussed with HOD on successfully application. - Qualification in Paediatric Life Support
- Advanced training in Anaesthetic sub speciality
- Full log book summary
- Management or leadership training or qualification
Experience & KnowledgeEssential
- Broad exposure to Anaesthetic practice
- Appropriate experience in relevant anaesthetic sub specialty
- Appropriate general non-anaesthetics training in complimentary specialty
- Recent experience in the management of the critically ill patient
- Experience of Chronic Pain, Paediatric surgery, Obstetrics, Perioperative medicine, Cardiopulmonary exercise testing, MRI sedation and anaesthesia, Regional anaesthesia and Advanced IV access
