We are looking to appoint 2 Consultant Gastroenterologists to join our team .These are new posts to support the expanding gastroenterology department and we are looking for someone who can help deliver our endoscopy service and contribute to endoscopic training as well as to deliver subspecialty outpatient gastroenterology. The post holder will also make an equal contribution to general medical and gastroenterology inpatient care on our home ward as well as to our out-of-hours GI bleeding service.The post is for 10 Programmed Activities; however, part time applications or job shares will be considered.Job description attached is pending RCP approvalMain duties of the job
- Provide senior clinician services to the department as per job plan or as agreed within the Trust, and as required when on call.
- Provide senior clinical support for specialty in reach to the Acute Medical Unit (AMU)
- Provide training for doctors, nursing and AHP colleagues.
- Maintain Joint Advisory Group in GI Endoscopy (JAG) and British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) standards in endoscopic practice.
- Participate in the out of hours GI bleeding rota.
- Work with consultant colleagues and nursing staff to ensure efficient use of Trust’s resources and contribute actively to clinical governance in the department and to development of quality enhancement projects in the unit.
- Provide senior clinician services to area of special interest as per the job plan or as agreed within the Trust. For a consultant Gastroenterologist, this will include providing endoscopic services, inpatient workload and outpatient services and working with colleagues to ensure the most efficient use of NHS resources.
- Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions at the request of the clinical manager, as the need arises.
- Actively participate in the Unit’s Teaching Programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies.
- Actively participate in clinical guidelines development, audit and CPD.

Person SpecificationQualifications/ TrainingEssential
- MRCP or equivalent medical degree
- Full GMC Registration
- CCST or CCT in Gastroenterology or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview

- o Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the management of acute medical emergencies
