A new opportunity has arisen to join our friendly, dedicated team and applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Renal Medicine and General Medicine. This post will be based primarily at The Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. We also provide service to West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven, so there will be a requirement to work across both sites. The post involves out-patient and in-patient duties and a regular commitment to both in-reach into the medical admissions unit and on-call for general medicine.Main duties of the jobBrief duties include:-Reviewing patients on the renal wards and renal units as well as other wards in the hospital.-Undertake ward rounds-Performing outpatient clinics-Training/Supervising staff-Partaking in the on call rota as well as the medical on call rota-Reviewing patients in the Emergency Department/Acute Medical Unit where necessaryAbout usAt NCIC, we have an ambition to deliver outstanding hospital and health services to half a million people. - Fully registered on the UK General Medical Council’s Specialist Register or Specialist Registrars may apply if within 6 months of CCT at date of application
- Dual accreditation in Nephrology and General Medicine with the appropriate Royal College
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration

Experience and KnowledgeEssential
- High level of clinical experience and competence in Renal and General Medicine
- Completed Higher Specialist Training (CCT) in Nephrology or evidence of equivalent competency

- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
