The VIB Data Core is a key enabler of this mission, providing cutting-edge IT infrastructure and services to support our scientists. We tackle complex challenges in data storage, management, computational resources, and scalability, working closely with world-class partners such as the ELIXIR consortium, a European research infrastructure connecting life science resources.
The Role
A key mission of the VIB Data Core is to develop and maintain infrastructure for the secure processing of personal data, including human genomic information, in compliance with security and privacy regulations.
Enabling cross-border data sharing in a secure and privacy-aware way is a strategic priority in Europe. The Genomic Data Infrastructure project, coordinated by ELIXIR, aims to implement such an infrastructure at European level. In Belgium, VIB Data Core, ELIXIR Belgium, and Sciensano are working in close collaboration to realise this goal.
To support the national implementation of a fit-for-purpose infrastructure for health-related data, we are seeking a Coordinator Human Data Infrastructure to join our team. In this role, you will coordinate activities across Belgian institutes and ensure close alignment with the European developments.Key Responsibilities
Coordinate Belgian participation in European projects such as Genomic Data Infrastructure and Genome of Europe.Act as liaison between national stakeholders and European partners to ensure alignment and compliance.Support the implementation of secure, standards-based infrastructure for sharing and analysing genomic data.Communicate progress, outcomes, and risks effectively to the VIB Data Core team and wider collaborators.Contribute to reporting and outreach activities.Your Profile

Requirements
A Master’s or PhD degree in a life sciences or biomedical fieldPractical experience working with genomic dataFamiliarity with FAIR data principles and GDPR/EHDS regulationsProven project coordination or management experience in a research contextStrong analytical and problem-solving mindsetExcellent communication and collaboration skillsWhat We Offer
