Job description
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Credit Underwriter or Analyst to join a fast-paced, regulated lending environment where your judgement and attention to detail will be highly valued. You’ll assess a wide range of mortgage applications across residential and buy-to-let portfolios, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high service standards.Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse all mortgage lending applications in line with policy and risk appetite
- Assess income documentation (Payslips, Salary Certs, Form 11s) to determine affordability
- Analyse bank statements and credit checks to evaluate repayment capacity
- Prepare detailed Credit Summary Reports and present them for approval
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure applications are assessed within agreed SLAs
- Evaluate special conditions, conveyancing issues, and exception requests
- Collaborate with Compliance to ensure ongoing regulatory alignment
- Support with internal reviews and contribute to business process improvements
What You Bring
- A relevant degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline
- APA Loans (or working toward QFA)
- Minimum 2 years’ credit underwriting experience, ideally in mortgages
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Strong analytical, judgement, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a high-energy, detail-focused environment
