What this Job Entails:The Data Center Field Technician performs or assists with the installation. maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Network and Server infrastructure assets in Data Centers, Colocations, and Edge facilities. They are a mobile force capable of moving between locations, working on a diverse array of gear, and interacting with other technicians.Scope:Works on complex assignments requiring a high degree of initiativeRequires some oversight and reports to a team leaderYour Roles and Responsibilities:Take an apprentice role in installing, moving, decommissioning, and troubleshooting hardware including cabinets, shelves, power strips, rails, fiber/copper/other cables and cable management, servers, storage, network, firewall, and other devices within the Data Center and outside of itConfirm and label devices, racks, and cablesWork in a standard ticketing system, providing clear, timely, and appropriate customer communicationsWork under the direction of a lead Data Center Technician, the Site Operations Supervisor, and/or Operations Manager; and follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Program Policies, Safety Policies, and Security Policies, while meeting requirements for quality and quantity of work.Perform design redlining and produce detailed reports and documentationMaybe be required to fulfill on-call duties on a rotating basisOther duties as required. This list is not meant to be a comprehensive inventory of all responsibilities assigned to this positionRequired Qualifications/Skills:Working in Client’s Data center, providing 24×7 technical support.Installing and configuring from data link layer to application layer of the whole network system in the data center.Daily monitor and maintaining the network, ensure network availability so that the remote users can have stable access to the servers.Engaging in site layout, network construction planning, quality control and ensure data safety.Supervising server support specialist to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary. (2) Requirements of Services: • Knowledge of L1-L7 network architecture, TCP/IP, Switching, Routing, and Optical communication technologyExperience installing servers and their components including installing boards, cards, hard drives, and a diverse number of software products;Strong troubleshooting and communication skills to be able to analyze hardware and software problems; research and resolve complex issues; and interface with Clients, manufacturers, and technical support staff;Ability to diagnose data communications problems with using specialized tools, test equipment, and software utilities;Extensive, successful experience interacting with both coworkers and Clients; • A+ and CCNA certifications; and/or training from applicable hardware and software manufacturers will be an asset;Knowing power and air flow system will be an asset.Preferred Qualifications:Certifications in Networking, Server/IT infrastructure and Data Center technologies are desiredPhysical Demand & Work Environment:Physically assist in moving and racking equipment.Able to safely lift and move a minimum of fifty (50) poundsMust have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standingMust have the ability to move from place to place within an office environmentMust be able to use a computerMust have the ability to communicate effectivelySome positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingersDriver’s license and clean driving record
