- Bridge scientific challenges to data science and translate these scientific requirements into impactful digital solutions.
- Lead cross-functional digital & data science projects:
- collaborate with scientific domain experts and key users across the organization to capture needs & ensure alignment and integration of data science initiatives with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with data science & digital domain experts like IT, Data Science & Statistics to transform scientific needs into digital solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain new and existing digital solutions, using languages and frameworks such as Python, R, , rdkit, cdk, pytorch, tensorflow, with direct code contributions under version control (git) leveraging cloud infrastructure and containerisation (docker) in close collaboration with IT & data science
- Shape and follow an agile development and deployment strategy that allows delivering high impact over fast development cycles and iterations, while keeping an eye on sustainability and scalability once products reach mature stable state within a corporate environment
- Inspire and drive a culture of innovation by showcasing new ways of working through the application of data science solutions and emerging digital technologies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data science & AI, leveraging insights to rethink and optimize existing workflows.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to educate scientist, engineers & leaders within the organization on data science tools and methodologies, fostering a digital and data-savvy workforce.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal & external data science partners and communities to bring in best practices and collaborative opportunities and scout internally & externally for new digital technologies to onboard.
- Measure the impact of data science projects on the product portfolio and report progress to senior management, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Active member of synthetic digital leadership team
- Shape the digital transformation strategy for the synthetic development organization and operationalize change
- Lead and sponsor data science lighthouse projects and strongholds to develop new digital capabilities and anchor them within the organization.
- Represent synthetic development within the wider TDS (Therapeutics Development & Supply) digital, data & AI projects & initiatives
Requirements
- A PhD in Science, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field combined with experience in a scientific environment
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Digital and data solutions and architecture or similar roles, preferably within the pharmaceuticals or life sciences sectors.
- Strong understanding of various Data and Digital technologies, versed in statistical and data science approaches applied on real world problems through data analysis, visualisation and modelling.
- Design for diverse data types the data flow from system through capture and storage into end user models and applications.
- Keen interest and demonstrated ability to apply innovative AI/ML solutions.
- Applies cheminformatics on molecules and reactions to deliver models and insights.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse audiences.
- Connects and brings right experts at the table, both internal & external, leading and motivating interdisciplinary teams
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable solutions.
- Strategic insight, strong personal leadership skills, detail oriented and a record of effective collaboration with diverse team members
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects in a cross-functional environment and inspire team collaboration.
