We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced R&D Silicon Photonics (SiP) Device Integration Expert to join our Process Team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the integration of active photonic components into our cutting-edge Silicon Photonics platform. You will contribute significantly to defining next-generation process architectures, developing advanced fabrication processes, and enabling the seamless integration of novel active devices into scalable photonic systems.Key Responsibilities:
Define and establish new process module architectures for active devices within our latest Silicon Photonics platform.
Develop integration schemes for active components such as modulators, photodetectors, semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs), and other advanced optoelectronic devices.
Collaborate closely with device design and fabrication teams to ensure full compatibility of active components with platform architecture, with a focus on performance optimization and yield improvement.
Lead the design and optimization of process flows, taking into account material compatibility, device performance, and manufacturing scalability.
Conduct feasibility studies and prototyping to evaluate new process technologies and integration methodologies for active photonic components.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Photonics, Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on Silicon Photonics.
Minimum of 5 years post-Ph.D. experience in R&D (industry or academic) within the photonics field, preferably with a focus on datacom applications.
Proven expertise in the integration of active materials into silicon photonics platforms, with experience in at least one of the following:
EDWA (Erbium-Doped Waveguide Amplifier)
III-V SOA
Ge-Si photodiodes
Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs)
Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPADs)
Silicon-organic hybrid modulators
Demonstrated ability to tackle challenges related to material compatibility, co-integration, and platform scalability.
Strong track record in process architecture definition, development, and optimization for active photonic devices.
Familiarity with project management is highly appreciated.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a track record of innovation.
Experience with simulation/design tools such as Lumerical, COMSOL Multiphysics, Flexcompute Tidy3D, or equivalents is a plus.
