While GOAL continues to be an agile first-responder to humanitarian crises, it is also committed to working with vulnerable communities to help them survive crises and support them on the road to recovery.About the RoleThe Donations Officer plays a key role in the Finance function at head office, and is responsible for recording donations received by GOAL, including GOAL UK and GOAL USA. Donations received are recorded in our Microsoft Dynamics database (CRM). Donations take the form of cheques, cash, credit card donations given over the phone or online via the GOAL website and third-party platforms, standing orders, direct debits, and legacy receipts. The role can be particularly busy during emergency appeals or at the time of GOAL’s major fundraising activities.Main Responsibilities

  • Postal Donations – Open daily post and distribute to relevant departments. Record all postal donations in CRM, ensuring complete details. Prepare and deposit bank lodgements.
  • Online Donations – Monitor automatic integration of online donations in CRM and reconcile with source data. Enter any non-integrated online donations into CRM promptly.
  • Standing-Orders – Download standing-order receipts from bank statements and import to CRM. Set up new standing-order pledges in CRM and send forms to the donor’s bank. Notify the Fundraising team of cancelled standing orders.
  • Direct Debits – Generate and reconcile monthly direct debit files in CRM, submitting them to the bank on time. Reconcile receipts and notify the Fundraising team of any new or cancelled direct debits.
  • Legacies – Coordinate with the Fundraising team to monitor, record, and manage communications regarding legacy receipts.
  • Coin Receipts – Count large volumes of coins (with coin counting machine) and deposit them to the bank promptly.
  • Month End – Ensure all donations for the month are entered into CRM, reconciled with bank statements, reported, transferred to Sage, and reconciled between CRM and Sage.
  • General – Maintain accurate donor records and strong interdepartmental relationships. Report technical issues and ensure data security compliance. Handle other tasks as assigned by your manager.

Qualification and Skills

  • A dynamic self-starter who can think on their feet, can spot issues or anomalies and take appropriate action, and is comfortable dealing with a diverse range of tasks.
  • Numbers literate; analytical mindset; a very strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail; and comfortable handling large volumes of data.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Very good IT skills. As well as Microsoft Dynamics being the key day to day tool for this role, fluency in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, internet banking and payment collection applications, is also required. Experience with an accounting system would also be an advantage.
  • Adapts easily to changing circumstances and demands; a flexible ‘can-do’ attitude, a genuine team player.
  • Ability to identify priorities, can work well under pressure, unsupervised, and as part of a small team.
  • 2- 3 years’ experience in a finance or administration role.
  • Excellent interpersonal, telephone, and written communication skills.
  • Genuine customer service orientation.
