Matrix Recruitment is hiring a EHS Specialist for our client in Carlow.Contractors’ role/ 11 months / extensionsAs the EHS Specialist ensures a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace by leading EHS programs and supporting teams across a regulated manufacturing site.Your new role
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Run Safety & Environmental Programs
- Conduct Risk Assessments
- Manage Contractors Safely
- Investigate Incidents
- Emergency Response Planning
- Chemical and Waste Management
- Environmental Compliance
- Workplace Ergonomics and Hygiene
- Ensure Safe High-Risk Work
- Support Operational Teams
- Reporting
- Project Safety Reviews
- Promote a Safety-First Culture
What You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Science, or Engineering.
- A postgraduate EHS qualification is a plus (but not required)
- 3+ years of experience in EHS, ideally in the pharmaceutical or another highly regulated industry.
- Proven track record of success in environmental health and safety.
- Familiarity with EHS laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of EHS topics: Risk assessments, Chemical, waste, water & air management, Emergency response High-risk work (e.g., confined spaces, working at height) Ergonomics and industrial hygiene & Machine and equipment safety
