U.S. Embassy Oslo is seeking an Escort and Administrative Rover. The position provides cleared escort services throughout the Post’s secured areas and basic administrative clerical support to offices within the Post as assigned. Assignment or rotation is generally required due to secured escort requirement, clerical staffing gap, or short-term spikes in administrative workload. Escorting duties may include visiting less secured areas, such as roof or confined space that may cause falling hazard. Ability to lift a maximum of 51 lbs. (23kg). Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and must hold or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.Major Duties:Cleared Escort – 50%
- Performs all duties of a security escort by monitoring and escorting non-cleared visitors and personnel while in controlled access areas (CAA) or in other locations within mission facilities and grounds.
- Secures worksites upon completion of work by ensuring that all non-cleared visitors and/or personnel have exited the area.
- Prepares and ensures that all materials entering a controlled access area (CAA) have been inspected by designated personnel prior to entering.
- As required, the incumbent is responsible for locally procuring items required for use within the CAA space, according to the randomized procurement methods described in relevant sections of the Foreign Affairs Manual.
- As required, the incumbent is responsible for the control and safe operation of any job-related equipment and supplies such as destruction equipment (shredders, disintegrators, etc.), x-ray machines, keys, radios, service elevators, etc.
- Prepares Incident Reports of any work-related problems or security incidents.
Administrative Clerical Support – 50%
- Provides administrative clerical support such as data entry to database, records management, internal meeting notes taking, filing, typing.
- Performs office administrative tasks (such as welcoming, directing visitors, receiving, and distributing mails), answering phones, providing guidance in accordance with instructions and answering customer service inquiries.
- Prepares correspondence for the assigned office. Drafts basic memos, letters, diplomatic notes, report, and other documents. Uses a variety of software packages (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint), including the internet and intranet. The position will be tasked with using a variety of DOS proprietary software/applications at the Mission.
- As assigned, the incumbent is required to perform official mail handling services such as receiving, dispatching, sorting, and distributing mail from multiple sources.
- As assigned, the incumbent is required to assist with protocol activities including greeting visitors, serving as official escort, and extending the hospitality of the Mission to outside guests.
- As assigned, the incumbent is required to support of VIP visits performing various duties including, but not limited to, submitting eCountry Clearance, escorting VIPs, security oversight, classified material destruction, baggage control, and/or other relevant duties.

Incumbent will be required to perform other duties as assigned by the agency.”Requirements:Experience: Minimum one-year office or administrative work experience.Job Knowledge: Knowledge of office management and core administrative processes. Comfortable with computer use including email and the internet. Working knowledge of basic software packages (MS Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and required formats to recognize and correct such errors in correspondence, reports, and memos. Understanding of the importance of customer care, and the principles of confidentiality. Ability to use computer and basic software skills.Education: Completion of High School is required.Language: English- Good working knowledge; speaking, reading & writingClearance: This position requires a U.S. Secret clearance.
