Full-Time | Permanent | OnsiteHartley People Recruitment is seeking a proactive and experienced Facilities Engineer to join a high-performing manufacturing site in Waterford. This is a hands-on role responsible for coordinating the maintenance of the factory building, premises, production plant services, and supporting the ongoing preventive maintenance and upgrades of facility and electrical systems.The role requires strong vendor coordination, a solid grasp of building and plant utilities, and experience managing compliance in a regulated manufacturing environment. A solutions mindset, strong documentation, and the ability to drive continuous improvement will be essential.Shift Pattern:

  • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday — 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday — 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for vendors, contractors, and sales representatives for site facilities works.
  • Seek quotations and oversee contract works to an agreed standard.
  • Liaise with cleaning contractors to ensure site-wide cleaning standards and service contracts are met.
  • Oversee and document all facilities-related tasks and operations to meet auditing requirements for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate all facilities activities in line with EHS standards and technical requirements.
  • Participate, lead, or own investigations such as MMCR, CAPA, PCF, and NCE as required.
  • Oversee inspections and interventions for all key plant equipment, including:
  • Electrical systems and transformers
  • Cleanroom air handling units (AHU) and humidifiers
  • Chillers, coolers, water supplies, compressed air systems, and lighting
  • Fire prevention equipment (sprinklers, extinguishers)
  • Site vacuum systems and life safety programs
  • Manage monitoring and maintenance of cleanrooms and associated BMS (Building Management System).
  • Identify non-compliance events in building systems and take corrective actions to maintain site compliance with temperature, humidity, fresh air, and pressure requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and ensure all facilities works are compliant with required specifications, quality, and safety standards, including GMP/GDP.
  • Support day-to-day operational engineering activities including change controls, NPI introductions, production ramps, and new projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement of facility performance, cost control, and utility reduction.
  • Provide breakdown response and repair to equipment as needed.
  • Manage environmental monitoring and pest control requirements.
  • Meet all FM Global program standards, including hot work and impairment notifications.
  • Support cross-functional communication with other site teams to ensure aligned facilities priorities.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, GMP, and quality programs.
  • Be flexible to agreed shift patterns, with occasional outside-hours support as required.
  • Other duties as reasonably assigned to meet the evolving needs of the business.

Requirements:

  • Senior Trade Electrical/Mechanical qualification essential
  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline desirable
  • 5+ years’ experience in a facilities or related engineering role
  • Experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment advantageous
  • In-depth knowledge of plant systems, preventive maintenance programs, and GMP practices
  • Experience with compressed air systems, air handling, fire prevention, building management, and industrial water systems
  • Ability to read P&IDs and schematics
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
