This position is based in Portugal, with the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Portugal or from our Lisbon office.Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will lead and support a diverse team of Engineer Managers within the Mobile community. You will work closely with other Heads of Engineering and Heads of Product to align on business goals and ensure that the Mobile team’s work supports broader company objectives.As the Head of Engineering for Mobile, you will oversee an end-to-end channel, collaborating with multiple business teams to ensure mobile product development aligns with strategic business priorities. The role requires a balance of deep technical expertise and exceptional interpersonal skills, as you will manage technical delivery and team development while driving innovation and performance in mobile solutions.You will co-lead the product development teams with the Head of Product, forming and continuing a technology strategy and architecture vision specifically for mobile platforms. You will also oversee the day-to-day delivery of your teams, help foster the OLX engineering culture, scale the team, and work with your peers to ensure business success.Our culture encourages collaboration, transparency, passion, innovation, and fun through continuous self-improvement, learning, and active sharing of feedback to improve performance. • Ability to develop and implement engineering strategies that optimize resources, improve efficiency, and drive innovation in mobile platforms.
• Effective communication skills, capable of clearly articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in verbal and written form.
• Comfortable challenging the status quo and intellectually curious about mobile trends and industry best practices.
• Ability to manage teams with diverse skill sets and experience levels, ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives.
• Manager of managers, experienced in building and scaling engineering teams in mobile technologies (Flutter/iOS/Android).
• Proven track record in mobile strategy and overseeing product development cycles to drive mobile product innovation.
• Coaching and mentoring skills, with a focus on team development, fostering a high-performance culture, and promoting personal growth within the team.
• Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to navigate organizational dynamics and build consensus across business pillars.
• Proven experience in Mobile development (iOS/Android/Flutter) and mobile technologies, frameworks, and best practices.
• Extensive leadership experience in engineering management roles, specifically within mobile engineering.
• Experience in driving mobile strategy and overseeing product development cycles.
• Ability to make data-driven decisions and handle complex technical challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong understanding of mobile technologies, and frameworks, and a deep commitment to delivering scalable and high-quality mobile solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, especially across Engineering, Product, and Business teams.
• High emotional intelligence, managing diverse teams, and navigating organizational dynamics to foster a collaborative and transparent environment.
• A problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance competing priorities while focusing on team development and business objectives.
• Strong ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders, ensuring the Mobile team’s efforts align with broader company goals.
• A collaborative leadership style that fosters trust, transparency, and high performance within the Mobile Pillar.
