About the RoleWe are looking for a driven and analytical individual with proven leadership experience to take on the role of Head of Resource Optimization at SAS. You need to be someone with a solid analytical background, a collaborative attitude, and a passion for continuous improvement .
In this role, you will lead the Resource Optimization team, which is responsible for mid- to long-term crew planning (1-36 months). You’ll play a key part in ensuring that our crew planning is safe, cost-efficient, robust, and aligned with a high quality of life for our employees.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliverables & Performance

  • Ensure crew resource plans comply with OM-A, CBAs, SLAs, and agreements with AOCs
  • Drive the team’s delivery against key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Responsible for Resource Optimization deliveries in budget- and forecasting processes
  • Own team reporting and performance tracking
  • Maintain deep understanding of the team’s planning metrics and outputs
  • Lead collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., AOCs, Network Planning, Base Management, Crew Systems Support)

Strategic Development

  • Drive the team’s role in SAS’s broader Resource Management transformation agenda
  • Ensure processes are documented, followed, and continuously improved
  • Promote collaboration across teams and departments
  • Foster knowledge sharing, implementation of best practices, and team alignment
  • Lead initiatives in standardization, digitalization, and automation
  • Represent Resource Managament in cross-functional projects, forums, and steering groups

Leadership

  • Lead and develop the team of Resource Optimizers
  • Make personnel decisions and invest in team members’ professional and personal growth
  • Raise competence through internal development and external training opportunities

Experience

  • 5-8 years of relevant professional experience in analytical or operations-driven roles
  • More than 3 years experience within resource management in the field of transportation.
  • Proven leadership skills is a requirement.
  • Higher academic education (M.Sc. or equivalent) in engineering, economics, mathematics, or similar fields

Key

  • Leadership and people development abilities
  • Experience leading complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Airline industry or operations planning experience is a strong advantage
  • Understanding of optimization techniques and tools is highly beneficial.
