Health and Safety Officer
Location: CorkOptimize Recruitment is currently partnering with a rapidly growing company to recruit a Health and Safety Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 12+ months of hands-on experience in construction to further develop their skills and career within a professional and supportive environment.You’ll be reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager and play a key role in maintaining high standards of health, safety, and compliance across construction sites in the Cork region.Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the implementation of the company’s Safety Management System.
• Conduct routine site safety audits and inspections with support from senior EHS staff.
• Coordinate and deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and on-site safety briefings.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and safety documentation.
• Participate in safety meetings and contribute to improvement discussions.
• Support accident and incident investigations, helping identify corrective actions.
• Review and file sub-contractor safety documents including method statements and risk assessments.
• Provide day-to-day assistance to the Health and Safety team across active sites.

Ideal Candidate

• A 3rd level qualification in Environmental Health and Safety (or equivalent).
• At least 12 months of practical experience in a construction environment.
• A solid understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, proactive attitude, and good communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Willingness to grow professionally in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
