A hull fitter for assembling metal structures must know:

– methods of marking places for installation of basic parts and assemblies of metal structures;
– structural design of devices used during assembly;
– methods of sharpening metalwork tools;
– state standards for the materials used;
– requirements for the work performed;
– rules for working with a gas cutter and electric welding machine;
– sequence and methods of assembly on assembly racks and on conductors-copiers;
– assortment and grades of steel;
– technical specifications for the assembly of complex metal structures;
– qualities and roughness parameters;
– the effect of heating metals (during welding) on their deformation;
– symbols of welds;
– methods of alignment of complex steel structures;

Types of work
A hull fitter for assembling metal structures performs the following types of work:
3.1. Cylindrical tanks and vessels operating under pressure up to 30 MPa (up to 300 kgf/sq. cm) – assembly and hydraulic testing.
3.2. Parts made of sheet and strip steel – marking according to a template, editing.
3.3. Sheet steel parts – bending.
3.4. Parts made of high-quality steel of all profiles with a thickness of up to and over 6 mm – cutting, chopping.
3.5. Various parts – filing of free sizes, cutting at angles, drilling according to markings.
3.6. Small-sized casings – assembly.
3.7. Caps, lids, brushes, vessels, funnels, boxes, cabinets of all sizes – preparation, straightening and assembly of parts for welding.
3.8. Sheet and profile metal – drilling, cutting with guillotine and press shears, joining for welding.
3.9. Strip and twisted metal – bending and cleaning after gas cutting.
3.10. Butt plates, stiffeners, temporary bolts – installation.
3.11. Supports and frames for devices – assembly.
3.12. Gaskets of simple and complex configurations made of sheet steel, cardboard, asbestos, clinoherite, rubber – cutting and cutting according to markings manually.
3.13. Staples made of material of different sections – flexible in the device.
3.14. Welded racks – assembled for welding.
3.15. Belt conveyors – assembly of metal structures.
3.16. Pipe fittings with flanges – assembly.
3.17. Metal cabinets and shelves – assembly.
3.18. Low pressure devices with detachable connections – assembly.
3.19. Oil tanks – manufacturing and assembly.
3.20. I-beams for monorails – assembly.
3.21. Baths of rolling equipment and oil gearboxes, pouring ladles of various capacities – assembly for welding.
3.22. Manifold insulation – manufacturing and assembly of parts.
3.23. Plate and overhead conveyors – assembly of metal structures.
3.24. Door and window frames and metal doors with a rigid frame – assembly.
3.25. Counterweight housings are assembled for welding.

3.27. Cylindrical and conical shells made of sheet metal – bending.
3.28. Settling tanks, measuring tanks, collection tanks – assembly.
3.29. Foundation slabs – assembly.
3.30. Louvre grilles, decking for openings, rod racks for fastening conductors, conductors for anchor bolts – assembly.
3.31. I-section rods – assembly of metal structures.
3.32. Trusses – assembly according to the copier.
3.33. A-shaped trusses for excavators – assembly of individual units.
3.34. Tanks of T-bar, box-shaped and lattice sections for load-bearing metal structures – assembly.
3.35. Mixer bands – assembly.
3.36. Mixing drums with internal spirals – assembly.
3.37. Cell shafts of disk vacuum filters made of high-alloy steel – assembly.
3.38. Auger screws – assembly.
3.39. Drilling derricks – assembly of individual parts of metal structures.

3.41. Gas pipelines – assembly.
