About the companyGKN Aerospace Sweden is part of GKN Aerospace, which manufactures engine components, aircraft structures, cabin windows, wiring, and much more for many of the world’s aircraft. The Aerospace division companies that work with aircraft engine parts together form Engines, and at our facility in Trollhättan, we develop and manufacture advanced components for aircraft and space rocket engines. We also work with engine maintenance.The company has production facilities in Trollhättan, Kongsberg (Norway), Mexico, and the USA. We also have an engineering office in Bangalore, India, and offices in Stockholm (Public Affairs) and Gothenburg.Global Technology Center is located in Trollhättan, and for this role, you will be based at Innovatum Science Center.About the roleAs a Senior Industry 4.0 Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and implementing advanced manufacturing solutions at GKN Aerospace’s. Your focus will be on optimizing manufacturing processes and integrating software with shop-floor equipment, including CNC machines and Siemens control systems. Drawing on your experience with CNC-machines, Siemens control systems, and CAD/CAM software.You will lead technology development projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance digital manufacturing capabilities. While experience in manufacturing engineering is beneficial, we are primarily looking for a candidate with strong software development skills, particularly within Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) and smart factory solutions.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technology development projects within the Global Technology Center.
  • Design and implement software integration with equipments and machines.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes, leveraging CNC-machines and CAD/CAM expertise.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams within GKN Engines.
  • Take initiative and drive problem-solving efforts to tackle technical challenges.

Your profileTo succeed in this role, we believe you have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field within 4.0 Industry.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machines, preferably Siemens control systems.
  • Knowledge in CAD/CAM software related to machining (preferably Siemens NX).
  • Experience in IIOT programming (e.g., Python, Node-Red).
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

Additionally, it is highly meritorious if you have:

  • Experience with CMM and/or 3D scanning (Zeiss Calypso, Zeiss Inspect).
  • Familiarity with MES, PLM, and ERP systems (SAP).
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM for additive manufacturing.
  • Background in machine learning, data analytics, or cloud computing for manufacturing optimization.
  • Understanding of digital twins, smart factory solutions, and industrial automation.
