Intellectual Property Legal Director | Leading National Firm | Birmingham / Hybrid Working BCL Legal is delighted to be assisting a leading national law firm in the recruitment of a senior Intellectual Property specialist to join their expanding Commercial practice in Birmingham. This role is ideal for a Legal Director (or experienced Senior Associate ready to step up) with strong IP expertise and a passion for building client relationships and growing a team. The Role This is a key strategic appointment within a high-performing commercial team. As Intellectual Property Legal Director, you will lead on non-contentious IP matters while collaborating closely with colleagues across the firm on broader commercial and transactional work. You will enjoy autonomy, access to excellent clients, and the opportunity to drive innovation and shape the future of the IP practice. Key Responsibilities Include: · Leading on non-contentious IP matters including brand protection, licensing, commercialisation, and due diligence. · Advising on a wide range of IP rights including trademarks, copyright, design rights, trade secrets and more. · Supporting corporate transactions with strategic IP input. · Collaborating with other departments and sectors to offer integrated legal solutions. · Developing and maintaining strong client relationships through commercially-focused advice. · Playing a key role in business development, team leadership, and mentoring junior lawyers. · Working on a hybrid basis, typically 2-3 days per week in the Birmingham office. About You To be successful in this role, you will: · Be a qualified solicitor with substantial experience in intellectual property law. · Have a strong track record in non-contentious IP work (contentious experience is a bonus but not essential). · Bring excellent legal and commercial acumen, along with strong drafting and negotiation skills. · Have experience working closely with clients to deliver bespoke solutions. · Ideally have experience leading or developing a team, or a clear desire to do so. · Thrive in a collaborative environment and be eager to take a proactive role in the growth of the practice.
