The Treaty provides for a global verification regime, including a network of 337 stations worldwide, a communications system, an international data centre and on-site inspections to monitor compliance.Organizational SettingThis position is located in the Internal Audit and Oversight Section under the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES).Reporting LinesUnder the supervision of the Chief, Internal Audit and Oversight Section, to:Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive review of the 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors, assessing their practical implications for Internal Audit and Oversight Section’s activities and operations in line with the Organizational objectives;
• Provide expert advice and input on the revision of the Internal Audit Manual and the Internal Audit Charter, determining the appropriate level of detail and alignment with international auditing standards;
• Identify and analyse the specific needs of the Internal Audit function within the organizational and regulatory framework of the CTBTO;
• Draft and edit high-quality documentation, ensuring clarity, conciseness, and alignment with established audit standards and internal requirements;

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

• Advanced university degree in audit, accounting, public or business administration, finance or economics, data science, or other related fields.

Work Experience and QualificationsAn internationally recognized professional certification pertaining to Internal Audit, such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is required; * A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience in internal auditing, part of which should have been in an international environment is required;At least three (3) years of the minimum seven (7) years of professional experience, must have been in senior management responsibilities, adhering to applicable standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA);Prior experience in a leadership role overseeing the Internal Audit function in a public or private sector organization is desirable; * Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to assess complex systems, processes, and policies is required;High proficiency in the use of software applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint is required.Languages

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential;
• Knowledge of one or more of the other official CTBTO languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is desirable.
