The Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP) is establishing a talented and diverse international team to create a cutting-edge quantum programme in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, where the formulation of Quantum Mechanics was born 100 years ago, we aim to establish an international quantum computing programme, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, that will drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing scalable quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications. The long-term mission of the programme is to develop fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve life-science-relevant chemical and biological problems.NQCP is looking for a junior photonics engineer to support our photonics characterization efforts. In this role, you will participate in the development and validation of our photonic devices and systems. You will be operating and maintaining optical tools and setups, executing characterization protocols, and extracting performance metrics from devices and setups. Your work will happen in close collaboration with the materials growth, photonics platform, and nanofabrication teams as well as various international partners from industry and academia.Responsibilities

  • Conduct optical measurements on photonic devices and chips using advanced characterization equipment.
  • Develop, refine, and implement protocols for precise and repeatable measurements.
  • Maintain and calibrate measurement systems, ensuring consistent and reliable operation.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in physics, engineering, quantum information science, nanoscience, or related.
  • Experience with lasers, optical setups, and equipment in an optics laboratory.
  • Experience with automation and data logging – preferably in python.
  • Good communication skills and a structured approach to work.’

Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average.
