Local Authority Research Practitioner Job descriptionAre you passionate about leading research and driving evidence-based change? Join us at Sheffield City Council (SCC) as a Local Authority Research Practitioner and play a pivotal role in shaping policy, improving services, and building collaborative research partnerships that make a real difference to our communities.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development SCC’s research strategy, embedding evidence-informed practice across the organisation.
  • Develop partnerships with universities, research bodies (e.g., NIHR), and local communities to co-create research that improves health and wellbeing.
  • Drive cultural change within SCC, enhancing infrastructure, securing research funding, and promoting research opportunities for staff.
  • Represent SCC in strategic partnerships and national research networks, including NIHR Academy
  • Lead initiatives such as research schools, “lunch & learn” sessions, and training courses to build research capacity.

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience in leading research initiatives, securing funding, and influencing policy.
  • Strong collaboration skills with a track record of building successful partnerships with academic, public sector, and community organisations.
  • The ability to translate research into practical service improvements.
  • Strategic leadership experience with the capability to engage and inspire at all levels.
