The Locum Consultant Paediatrician post will work alongside the existing consultant General Paediatricians to further advance the development of the Departments of General paediatrics and Paediatric Neurodisability across the Children’s Health Ireland sites.The purpose of this role is to provide healthcare to children with neuro-disability and to support general paediatrics in CHI.This post will continue to support the introduction of additional capacity for the provision of outpatient clinics, improving access for patients to the most appropriate clinician. This post will continue to support the development of the cross-city Departments of General Paediatrics and Paediatric Neuro-disability, continuous quality improvement with the department and improved access for patients. The appointee with work closely with sub-specialty consultant colleagues across the five sites and with members of the multidisciplinary team to maximise patient care and outcomes.LauraLynn:To work as a Locum Consultant Paediatrician in LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice alongside LauraLynn medical and nursing team and to provide paediatric complex medical and palliative care to children with life-limiting conditions attending the service.A key element of this role is to direct and co-ordinate the medical services provided at LauraLynn for children and their families. The post holder will work collaboratively with the medical and interdisciplinary team, and ensure that clinical governance standards are in place and advise the Director of Nursing in the absence of a Medical Director of issues or developments in this regard.The post holder will support the development of integrated care pathways and integrated discharge plans between CHI and LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. This post will ensure a consultant-delivered paediatric neuro-disability/palliative service at LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.Essential Criteria:Professional Qualifications and ExperienceMandatory:a) Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of paediatrics.b) Two years certified postgraduate training in paediatric Neurodisability/community child health or a strong interest in Paediatric Neurodisability / Palliative Care and keen to improve their skills with the support of the Neurodisability team.The successful interviewee must be registered as a specialist in the relevant specialty on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland before taking up appointment.The Consultant must, at all times while continuing to hold office, continue to be registered with the Medical Council of Ireland. Documentary evidence of Medical Council Registration is required and must be produced annually to the Medical Administration Department within the Children’s Health Ireland.Should the successful candidate not be registered as a Specialist at that time, the post may be offered to the next suitable candidate.
