- To provide car parts support, maintain and improve the TPC logistics stock and lifing functions both electronically and physically, to enable effective running of the TPC programme.
- Ensuring stock control, correct build and kitting practices, servicing routines are maintained, components and assemblies are fit for use.
- Deliver stock, parts logistics programs, projects, and continuous improvement strategies to support events both at and away from the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC).
Role Dimensions:
- The position will involve unsociable hours and substantial weekend work, including significant event attendance and overseas travel. You will collaborate closely with the TPC Project Management team to ensure quantities of parts and spares are available to meet the TPC event schedule.
- You will be responsible for the co-ordination of component servicing, kitting, lifing, logistics and stock control within an area/areas as specified by the logistics manager. Whilst at events, you may also be required to undertake other on and off car activities in order to support the event and the wider TPC function, as dictated by the TPC build manager.
- You will have excellent understanding of car component stock management and parts flow in a Formula One and test car environment. This is to include the archiving of components at end of use.
- On occasion, you may also be required to support in areas outside of the TPC programme, including but not exclusive to; Current F1 activities and Heritage.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Ensuring correct transaction, service requirements and routing of components through the service function, to guarantee they are shipped and fit for purpose for each event and allocated accordingly
- Manage TPC stock control and parts supply to events or build
- Ensure post event Service Returns and compliance to the Lifing Program
- Manage stock to correct issue
- Liaise with the TPC Project Management team on shortages
- Promote department adherence to process and procedures, working with the race logistics manager to align processes to current F1 activities
- Engage in the creation, planning and delivery of the department and wider business continuous improvement activities
- Support the TPC build functions by kitting of components for build
- Packing and unpacking of shipments to and from events, working to the strict deadlines as outlined by the logistics manager or TPC build manager
- Archiving of parts at end of use aligning to processes across current car and Heritage programmes
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience of Javelin stock control system
- Ability to work to extremely tight and demanding deadlines with conflicting priorities
- Extensive knowledge of Formula One race car components and assemblies
- Has participated in a Motorsport based team-oriented environment
- Experience of managing complex motorsport parts and assemblies on demanding timescales
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and digital systems, to drive process improvements regarding digital build and lifing management
- Experience of MRL Lifing control system or similar
- Good Knowledge of race car build process and procedures
- Ability to interpret engineering specification drawings and BOM data
- Excels at cross-function planning
