This role focuses on the planning and design of marine loading terminal infrastructure within our Technical Consulting business.This position is based in our Galway office, with hybrid working available.#LI-HybridThe RoleAs a member of our expanding Galway marine terminals team, you will be involved in the planning and design of marine loading terminal infrastructure around the world. This is a fast-growing area within Wood and provide an exciting career development opportunity for an engineer with a first industry experience.You should have some experience in the marine civil or energy industry, with relevant design experience in delivering nearshore/coastal Civil & Structural infrastructure. Additionally, you should have experience in working as part of a team developing a range of terminal solutions, from initial concept through to detailed design for implementation.Our Clients and ProjectsDesigning the future. Responsibilities:Typical Responsibilities

  • Concept, front end and detailed design of port infrastructure, including jetties, dolphins, quay structures, dredge layouts, breakwaters and revetments.
  • Writing of technical reports and specifications
  • Supporting the preparation of cost estimates and tender documentation
  • Liaising with other engineering disciplines during the design process
  • Participation in client meetings, workshops, safety reviews etc.
  • Attend site visits
  • Mentoring of more junior staff
  • Providing support in the preparation of bid and tenders

  • Primary degree or postgraduate qualification in Marine/Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Solid understanding of berthing and mooring infrastructure design
  • Solid understanding of marine and navigation design requirements
  • Familiar with relevant designs codes such as – PIANC, OCIMF, BS6349, etc
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to travel for short term international assignments

Desirable:

  • Proven experience in marine infrastructure design.
