Job Description:Short summary of the position:The role is responsible for leading sales and commercial transactional activities, including all aspect of contract negotiations, pricing, and account management of a multi-billion-dollar global portfolio of internal (AMS) and external customers. Develop and implement sales strategies and initiatives to meet existing customer requirements, identify new customers, develop new products and markets and generate value across the company’s products and infrastructure.The Marketing Manager’s will :
- Be responsible of leading contract negotiations, pricing, development and execution of internal and external sales against the physical iron ore seaborne sales plan.
- Proactively manage all short-term and long-term sales in line with the company’s global marketing, transfer pricing and external pricing structures, supply chain, logistics, and customer service and fulfilment activities in line with budget, risk / return profile and strategic objectives within the approved corporate and segment governance models.
- Translate market knowledge into value generating trades, including new products and services, develop long and short-term product and placement strategies.
- Develop customer segmentation strategies to identify and secure long term, strategic and higher value-in-use customers.
- Ensure key stakeholder relationships are being developed to ensure up to date asset capability and limitations are defined early and managed.
- Work with assets, planning, shipping, legal and trade finance on a continuous basis to ensure regional rolling production, sales and inventory plans are maintained for optimal shipping against contracts.
- Work with treasury and shipping teams to develop freight and price risk strategies to offset risk.
- Prepare and submit all deal sheets, working with back office to prepare contracts for review.
- Responsible for analysing internal and external markets, competitive, derivative, financial and technical information to generate strategies for recommendation across all products and assets.
- Perform due diligence for projects, business development and M&A as required.
- Validate all MRF forecasts, reviewing and confirming all base price validations, freight differential calculations with trade finance, tax and back office
- Run calculations on all hedging positions to support risk strategies.
- Prepare strategy, budget, monthly and quarterly reports as directed.
- Develop and deliver presentations for internal and external parties as required.
- Travel to meet with customer offices and lead customer visits to mines and ports.
Experience and technical competencies required:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in negotiating and managing high value commercial contracts, sales accounts, supply chain functions in the mining and metals industry with specific focus in global dry bulk markets, especially steelmaking raw materials (iron ore, metallurgical coals), including high level expertise with commodity pricing and derivatives markets.
- A good understanding of AMS burden structures and iron ore procurement requirements, upstream mining processes, ore beneficiation and pelletisation to metallics; including the utilisation, consumption and total cost of ownership (TCO) of steelmaking raw materials in the in BF and EAF steel making routes.
- Strong business and financial management skills and a demonstrated track record of meeting sales, operational and financial goals.
- Direct experience negotiating commodity pricing, terms and conditions and closing large, complex contracts in a multinational environment.
- Exceptionally high level of numeracy, quantitative skills and a deep understanding of bulk commodity market dynamics, supply and demand drivers, pricing indices, derivative and freight markets.
- The job holder should be strategic and deliberate, but also flexible in the face of cyclical challenges and opportunities.
- The job holder should be able to anticipate and react to changing market conditions and inspire confidence and agility in volatile environments.
- The job holder should have experience successfully navigating through multinational, multicultural organizations and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural issues in various international environments.

- Strong problem-solving skills.

- Flexible for a high level of business travel.
- A university degree in commerce, economics, engineering and/ or finance.
- Other advanced degree is advantageous but not essential.
