Purpose of the RoleThe purpose of the role is to act as a representative for and lead the Technical Services Department in achieving the Hospital’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan. He /she will participate with the Head of Facilities Management in ensuring that the day-to-day activities and resources of the Technical Services Department are managed and co-ordinated throughout, so that a first-class patient focused service is delivered through the effective and efficient operational management.He /she will actively participate in continuing education and research activities consistent with the position of Technical Services Manager. They will contribute to the change agenda and prepare staff within their area of responsibility for the transition to the New National Paediatric Hospital and work with key stakeholders to achieve strategic and operational change.He /she will be required to represent the hospital from a Technical Services perspective around the design and target operating model for the new hospital.Essential Criteria:· A third level degree/post-graduate qualification in a management discipline such as Construction Management, Project Management or Facilities Management, Building Services Management· 3+ years’ experience in a management role carrying out duties similar to the purpose of this role and Job description· A minimum of 2 years previous experience as a Supervisor in a Technical Services environment.· Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, statutory regulations together with a good knowledge of HTM standards.· Knowledge of Planned Preventative Maintenance /Breakdown Maintenance/Condition Based Maintenance and strategies associated with each.· Excellent Management and Leadership skills providing good governance to both in – house and contracted staff.· Proven track record as a team player.· Understanding and appreciation of internal customer expectations· Have a proven a record of managing change successfully within diverse groups..Applications for this post must be accompanied by a cover letter, setting out relevant experience that illustrates how the essential criteria listed above is met.The criterion for short listing is based on the requirements of the post, as outlined in the eligibility criteria.
