Our growing pipeline reflects our commitment to creating meaningful and transformative healthcare solutions.The RoleAs Medical Affairs Manager, you will be a key contributor to the establishment of the Swiss Ascendis affiliate. You will serve as a crucial link between Ascendis Pharma and the medical community, providing expert insights and facilitating accurate scientific communication. This strategic position plays a central role in aligning our medical strategy with business objectives, overseeing all medical affairs activities both internally and in the field, and building collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across Switzerland (50-60% field-based). You will report directly to the Head of Medical Affairs in Germany and Austria, with a dotted line to the Country Manager, Switzerland.Your Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement the Swiss medical affairs strategy in alignment with local and corporate goals.
- Build strong, cross-functional relationships with internal teams (e.g., Market Access, Marketing, Sales, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory) to ensure strategic alignment.
- Collaborate with regional Medical Affairs colleagues to support scientific and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor competitive activities and trends within relevant therapeutic areas.
- Provide onboarding and ongoing medical training to commercial and medical colleagues.
- Support clinical trial operations by engaging with clinical trial investigators and sites.
External Engagement & Insights
- Enhance Ascendis Pharma’s visibility in the endocrinology community, promoting the transformative potential of TransCon technology.
- Develop and execute a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement plan within Switzerland.
- Deliver scientific presentations to internal and external audiences and provide support at medical congresses and professional meetings.
- Engage with healthcare providers, researchers, and patient advocates to understand and address their scientific and clinical needs.
- Capture and share external insights on disease states, Ascendis’ pipeline, and competitors with internal stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) in a relevant scientific field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in medical affairs within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including field experience.
- Preferred experience in endocrinology, pediatric endocrinology, or rare diseases.
- Fluent in German (both written and spoken); proficiency in French and/or Italian is a plus. Strong English language skills.
