The Niels Bohr Institute at Faculty of Science, the University of Copenhagen is looking for a Nanofabrication Engineer with effect from 1 November 2025 or after agreement.About usThe Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP) is establishing a talented and diverse international team to create a cutting-edge quantum programme in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, where the formulation of Quantum Mechanics was born 100 years ago, we aim to establish an international quantum computing programme, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, that will drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing scalable quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications. The long-term mission of the programme is to develop fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve life-science-relevant chemical and biological problems.TasksWe are seeking an experienced nanofabrication process expert to our wafer-based nanofabrication team. Working closely with Platform Integration and Fabrication Tools Development teams, you will work with the development of fabrication processes for wafer-based components for our quantum processors. The scope of responsibility centres on device fabrication and quality control, along with data tracking & analysis. The position requires a high degree of cross-functional collaboration and teamwork.Responsibilities

• Develop wafer-scale fabrication processes in close collaboration with Fabrication Tools Development, Characterization and Quantum Platform Integration teams.
• Implement and document in-process work streams, protocol instructions, tests & specifications.
• Analyse correlations between processes (process parameters/conditions, metrology data).
• Track variation and process capability, identify and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Involvement in tool development for enabling new fabrication technologies.
• Analyse requirements against existing capabilities and estimate risks and yields for new processes.

Qualifications

• Masters/Ph. D in material science, electronics, physics or related.
• 3+ years’ experience in microelectronics or MEMS.
• Experience in nanofabrication techniques including electron beam and optical lithography, dry and wet etching methods, and thin film deposition.
• Proficient in data tracking and analysis methods (e.g., six sigma concepts).
• Ability to assume a technical leadership role while driving an innovative culture and growth mindset.

Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average.
