Institutt for energiteknikk (IFE)
Job description
About the positionAt the Applied Physical Sciences (APS) department of IFE, we lead research, development, and innovation in safety-critical applications, with a primary focus on the nuclear sector. Our expertise spans advanced technologies that enhance safety and efficiency in nuclear, energy, oil and gas, and other industries.
Our work includes creating digital twins of nuclear facilities, integrating physics simulations and AI for enhanced hazard assessment. We deploy mobile robots equipped with AI, sensors, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) for effective operations in nuclear environments.
We have capabilities in radiation physics modeling using deterministic and Monte Carlo tools for reactor modelling, human dose assessments and material radiation burden analysis. We are advancing multi-physics and physics-informed AI modeling to improve the accuracy of these estimates.
Our areas of interest include commissioning, decommissioning, safety assurance, waste management, and regulatory compliance. We also have extensive expertise in nuclear fuels and materials, focusing on performance testing under normal and emergency conditions.
Our projects enhance safety, optimize processes, and support sustainability, advancing global safety practices in the nuclear and other safety-critical industries. We are seeking a PhD fellow with the potential for future progression to a researcher role in the areas outlined above.Key informationApplication deadline:01.03.2025Employer:Institutt for energiteknikk (IFE)Town/city:HaldenTitle:PhD candidatePositions:1Full-time/part-time:Full-timeEmployment type:OtherPercentage of full-time:100Webcruiter ID:4887344146Social sharing :Duties and responsibilitiesWe are seeking a PhD candidate to join the Norwegian Nuclear Research Centre (NNRC) and contribute to groundbreaking research within Research Area 3, focusing on Nuclear Modelling.
