The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.Job description, (RHT) at the Faculty of Health Sciences (HV) has a vacancy for a three-year fixed-term post as a PhD candidate in the field of musculoskeletal health and idiopathic scoliosis, associated with the research project “Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis in a Life-course perspective: improving short- and long-term health outcomes ( )”.Field of researchThe research project aims to investigate the health and welfare of people with idiopathic scoliosis throughout the entire life course, including the transition from youth to adulthood. Registry data for the entire population of Norway from the period 2008 to 2024 will be used to analyse the use of health services, medicines and sickness absence. The source data include linked data from the primary and specialist health services – the Norwegian Control and Payment of Health Reimbursements Database (KUHR) and the Norwegian Patient Registry (NPR), the Norwegian Prescription Database (“Reseptregisteret”), and the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration NAV. Prognostic factors for long-term effects on health and welfare will also be explored. The PhD candidate will be in charge of cleaning, linking and statistically analysing data from the various registries, and will be expected to write and publish at least three scientific articles during the fixed-term appointment that will be included in the doctoral thesis.The project is affiliated with the .
